Tailem Bend by ORB
ORB’s Tailem Bend is a trip and a half back to the sounds of classic rock, getting it all right and tight like a good pair of 70s dungarees.
But just wait, you won’t find overly indulgent drum-fills or too much cowbell here, nope. You’ll dig the spooky Syd and Davies vibes on tracks “Skyclock” and “Karma Comes” and the Sabbath doom-buzz of “Morph” and “Commandment”.
There’s some Sweet Sweet Connie going on with “Can’t Do That” and “Golden Arch” seems to summon the Allman Brothers. Not the “Ramblin’ Man” sort (lord, no), but rather the “Les Brers In A Minor” variety.
Can ORB strike the 70s nerve any harder? Yes they can and yes they do with “You Do”, a Pinball Number Count-esque tune with funky wah wah and fairy flute. So, go get yer biggie headphones and give Tailem Bend a listen.
