Shoegaze in Amsterdam is a new initiative of renowned local concert venue Paradiso that will bring a bit of reverb and shimmer to the dark northern November days in The Netherlands. A single, affordably priced ticket gets you access to five shows in four different venues across the city of Amsterdam.
Shoegaze in Amsterdam kicks off with Swirlies, 3 November at Paradiso and closes with Mo Dotti 30 November at Toekomstmuziek. In between you can catch Hotline TNT, again at Toekomstmuziek, as well as Winter at Doka and CIEL at Bitterzoet.
“It feels perfectly in tune with the autumn season,” explained Nori de Groot, promoter for indie acts at Paradiso. “We had five shoegaze shows scheduled for November and I saw an opportunity to bring them together under one theme and encourage fans to explore more bands within the same genre.”
Of note is the smaller and lesser-known venues these shows are taking place at. As a local in Amsterdam, I appreciate the prompt to check out new music at venues that offer a more intimate space to enjoy the scene.
“I’m personally a big fan of the genre,” said Nori. “I’ve also noticed how shoegaze is becoming increasingly popular among Gen Z, which I really love to see.”
When asked if we can expect something similar in 2026, Nori was optimistic.
“I’d be happy to do another shoegaze-focussed campaign next year if we see an opportunity.
