"Astratta" by ultranøia
Italian shoegazers ultranøia released their first EP Astratta this year on Roman emo, psych, shoegaze and mathrock label Kosmica Dischi. The four-song EP is entirely sung in Italian and hits fierce and moody with opening track “Astratta”.
“The song represents an individual journey of catharsis over a music background influenced by shoegaze wave from the 2010s and Italian alternative rock,” explained the band.
ultranøia is based in Cassino, Italy, which is situated between Rome and Naples. The project started in summer 2023 and “reflects the messy hush of the suburbs through the failed and denied rêverie of its inhabitants”. The four members of the band draw inspiration from this world in which they live, describing the ultranøia sound as “dotted with saturated fuzz, pizza slices, skate and Tassoni.”
